Often people ask, if you could have one superpower what would you chose. It's neck and neck between flying and Mr. Byrne's drawing super power! I might would choose the latter, I would spend the rest of my life drawing epic low angle fight scenes with the coolest backgrounds imaginable.
I assume the JB's imagination power comes with the drawing power. If not, I'd use my second wish on that : )

(Because of my day job, civilians often ask which super power I would choose for myself, and are almost as often surprised when I DON’T pick flight. I tell them that’s something that comes from the job, having spent decades thinking about how various powers would work, and how so many are not really stand-alone, and often need othen powers—usually some degree of invulnerability—in support. (Flight is high on the list of powers that, when that ol’ devil practicality rears its ugly head, turn out to be not so much fun as we might imagine.)

I didn't want to assume I knew who it was Dark Phoenix was holding before but... oh boy. Not looking good.And, suppose you had the choice of one power PLUS the ancillary powers you'd need to make it work (i.e., maybe some form of invulnerability and life support while aloft). Is flight still on the list?

I’ve found myself wondering from time to time just how old Jean’s parents are. I established almost as a throwaway that Sara is about five years older than Jean which, coupled with the age of her kids, would put her in her late twenties. Depending, then, on how old Elaine was when her first child was born, that would probably put the Grays in the neighborhood of 50 or so. Of course, even tho Jean was in her middle teens when we met her, Jack would very soon be drawing her parents as firmly middle age. Call it the Andy Hardy effect. Parents were almost always drawn as “older”.

Invulnerability, speed, life support—all are necessary to make flight work. When people tell me they would pick flight, I ask what they’d do with it, and the response is almost always something like “Go to Paris for lunch!”That’s where harsh reality kicks in. New York to Paris takes about six hours by commercial jetliner. Can’t imagine flying exposed and unprotected for that long, so, a LOT more speed would be needed. A LOT more. Plus protection of skin, hair and garments.
