The legion has always hed a speacial place in my heart. when I was just a tot my dad, instead of buying me some comics, for the first time gave me money and let me pick out my own. This is the first comic I ever baught with my own cash.
Superboy #201 I'll let you guess who my favorite leogionarre is.

I guess Dave Cockrum has a thing for that "look" he put to Brin Londo and Wolverine, with the hair and all.
My first exposure. Just seems I'm noticing for the first time Londo never had pupils.

That cover is by Mike Grell, Robert -- unless you're talking about the #201
cover on the previous page. (Both artists have improved, but consider that
those covers are from the early-to-mid '70s.)
Even though I was familiar with the Legion before that, S&LSH #221 was my
first regular issue as well. Mmmm, Charma.

Robert's on me. Did Grell design this version of Timber Wolf? I was thinking Cockrum put it together and Grell continued it. I wasn't indicating Cockrum did the cover above.

You're correct, Chad -- Cockrum designed that look for Timber Wolf and it
was continued all the way 'til the Giffin era.

I've mentioned it before, about this ish. There's something kinky about it, starting with Charma's erotic presence and Grimbor's masochism. I don't even remember how I got this issue, but I was WAY young and didn't buy it, I'm sure. When I was a kid, I don't remember very many DC Comics on the 7-11 spinner. I recall really digging Timber Wolf, and I'm sure if I'd seen his kisser on another issue, I would have bought it. Looking back, there was a lot of good DC work being done that I was never exposed to. But Marvel was the deal then. You couldn't get that Marvel feel from DC. I dug Brin Londo's asskickery in this issue, but it didn't keep to find more. I guess, being only seven or so, I just moved on to the next asskickery that presented itself. And SUPERBOY AND THE LEGION didn't.
Are there reprints of the Grell issues somewhere?

Maybe it's just not one of those things you're supposed to think about, but it never made sense to me that the Legion would be so stupid and reckless as to bring Superboy into the future -- and not just for tea but to expose him to very real threats. They would run the risk of destroying their present (since Superman probably saved the world more than a couple times during his career).

The last issue before OYL (#15, I think) tied together the previous and current incarnations so well that it read like a perfect "last issue" and I almost dropped the book on principle. But I'd already pre-ordered some later issues and I'm curious about the Supergirl thing so here I stay...

According to Comics Continuum, SuperBOY is now SuperMAN in the upcoming Legion cartoon. I would guess this is a result of the recent legal wranglings with the Siegel family and DC.
