...what they do with some thought that they are in the right...Which makes it a belief and beliefs are not rational.
Magneto has power and does what he wants. I'm surprised he even thought about it afterwards.

Stan had a way of crafting layered villains, but with Magneto he seemed to go full Hitler right from the start.

Magneto perfectly underscored why regular people were fearful of mutants back when Stan introduced them. Nice to see Wolverine and Cyclops leave an impression on Mags.

In reading the early Stan & Jack Captain America stories, he seems to go out of his way to let the reader know that the Red Skull is evil. Most of the time when the Skull is explaining his diabolical plan, he includes the actual word “evil”. As if the Skull understands that his ultimate goal is actually evil. I’ve never really thought that villains thought of themselves as evil. We know they are. The heroes know they are, but the villains never really saw themselves as bad. Maybe just willing to do more for what they want than the average person. Not the Skull, tho. He’s evil and proud of it.

It's good to mix in some misunderstood menaces along with the pure evil types– that's how the world actually works!

I wonder how this setback changes Magneto's plans. He is definitely going to wake up pissed.

JB,
Seeing how much of a villain has me wondering about early stories .
In the early issues of the X-Men, Magneto displayed mental powers. Will you delve into that in this series?

I did reference Magneto's mental powers in HIDDEN YEARS, and it caused some ruffled feathers in certain corners of fandom. There were complaints that he did not have powers such as this--astral projection, for example--and those complaints served as a reminder that so many who had embraced Magneto the "freedom fighter" were totally unaware of any of his history before they started reading.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!!!!•• Behind the Scenes: Shooter grumbled that this battlecry made no sense, since the team was usually already "assembled" whenever it was uttered. So during his tenure as writer on THE AVENGERS he changed it to "Avengers attack!" Which did not sound very superheroic to me!
