It's always gratifying when readers take note of this kind of stuff. Over the years--okay, decades--of my career, I have come to the sad realization that many do not appreciate what goes into the production of the simplest of panels. Even a character floating in empty space has to be drawn--lines on the page, decisions made about pose and weight, angles and so on. Sure, pretty much all second nature by now, but still going on.

I take note of it because these are the things that I struggle with (still) as a comics artist. Other fans for sure are reading these pages and enjoying the story. For me however this is primarily ‘comic art class’.
I am learning with each page.
And yes, the story is kicking ass as well!

OK, thanks JB, I got my daily dose of Colossus !!! Never have I had such a huge Peter's splash page...not enough space for a sound. That right arm is...huge ? I have a sense of déjà vu with the right Sentinel...magnetic power ;) !

Exhibit A: Splash page!
I'm in the store, I check out the new issue, see this, and DOUBLE-TIME it to the cash-register.
Beautiful!

Splash page is leading me to think I **might** have finally correctly guessed a plot point... We shall see... not that it's bad to be surprised too...

First post here - I felt compelled to join based on this fan fic site. Wow!
Like so many others here, I feel transported back to the days when I’d tag along with Dad for a trip to the local convenience store, just to look through the spinner racks, hoping for some new treasure (before I learned about publication schedules).
Thanks for sharing this With your fans!

I read an analysis of what made the art of Jack Kirby so very special and definitive of what we have come to think of as the Marvel Age of Comics. I'm just riffing on it from memory, but it had to do with how his figures burst out of the panel boundaries and seemed to thrust themselves at the reader with boundless energy, like never before.
This page, I think, is a good example of that. WHOA!

(before I learned about publication schedules)••• You did better than me, Robert! I never did figure out release days. I was finally told after I turned pro.

Altho he most often worked within a standard 4-6-8 grid, he seemed to ignore the panel borders, without actually breaking beyond them.

Check out this last panel from Kirby. It's like 3-D!

Thanks for sharing, Michael.
Those original X-Men uniforms are still the best.
