You can't imagine how much thought went into choosing that sound effect! Really! I asked myself what it would sound like if the Thing hit a metal object that was surrounded by a force field. Not CLANG certainly. Something more like a muffled bell. Thus, THUMM.

I love it. Feels like a sound out of a starship.

It's perfect!

I like the way my eyes are led from Ben punching the Sentinel to Cyclops' position on the ground.

Oh, and the little details included in your backgrounds continue to amaze!

Side Note: Working on this particular "issue" I was reminded once again of how much influence I seem to have picked up from Rich Buckler, in my drawing of the Thing.

Coincidentally, one of the first pieces I inked for the old CPL fanzine was a Buckler sketch of the Thing Roger Stern had picked up at a con. (Also a sketch of Marvel's Hercules I inked, too.) My attitudes have changed a lot since those days, and I would now be disinclined to ink a pencil sketch by another artist. Or by me, for that matter!

JB, I am still partial to the "starfish" Thing you used to draw, but your current approach to penciling Mr. Grimm does seem more apropos here.

I'm drawing the appropriate Thing for the time period.

Anytime I read your Thing dialogue JB, I'm reminded of a story you did in What The..? and made the side note that it's hard to write funny Thung dialogue that doesn't sound like the real thing.

True dat!

It's not unlike watching A MIGHTY WIND and realizing there is virtually no way to write a parody of a folk song.

IIRC, Susan Richards not only has the ability to create force-fields of her own, but also to "un-create" fields generated externally. That should be a game-changer in the current conflict!

(...although I wonder if Shaw took steps to get around that, since he was plotting to kidnap Susan's son??)

As usual, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for tomorrow's installment.
