Not to be a jerk (really) but at first it did seem odd to me… until I went back and looked at your other renderings and could see its always been there.  It just that this page has a somewhat unique viewing angle that we don’t usually see.  Once I had my brain look at other angles, it now looks fine…

An amusing thing about Doom’s mask is that its original FF5 form had first appeared in “The Monster in the Iron Mask” in one of Marvel’s old horror comics!

Just occurred to me—with Marvel Time, especially as seen in ELSEWHEN, Trump would have been the president who authorized Project Wideawake.

That is one heck of a realization. Somehow appropriate for the level of prejudice required to hate mutants and want them exterminated.

I am enjoying very much the Dr. Doom story and wonder where it will end up. What has he got planned once he has Nightcrawler? /shudder

Trump with Sentinels is more dystopian than I want to even imagine.

But, that slight drift aside, the Doom close-up is highly effective.

It's also a nice touch that Nightcrawler doesn't know what the Doom Servo-Guards are (hope I've got that name right. Doombots were always the one's that Doom used in his absence not).

It makes sense. Though I doubt he'd have limited their use to mutants only.

Probably worked a little gerrymandering on the definition of “mutant”.

Peering down at Doom, who himself is peering down into his surveillance table, is just a brilliant panel. That it appears so unchallenging in its draftsmanship is mind-boggling.

"Deactivating all safety protocols."  That doesn't bode well for the citizens of Manhattan.

For a time (I haven't checked recently to know if this is still the case) Overstreet's Guide to Comics was listing that earlier comic as a Dr. Doom "prototype", Sure, maybe for the mask, but in no other way. I mean, it was basically a space-gorilla wearing Doom's mask.
