One of the most pleasing aspects of this whole adventure, going right back to when I started posting the pencils in this Forum, is so many people commenting that these are the REAL X-Men for them.

It’s a sad commentary on how far off-model the characters have been driven by those who were supposed to be protecting them, but also deeply gratifying to have my versions recognized as the same characters I first met all those years ago.

I agree wholeheartedly - this is the real X-Men for me,
especially Cyclops as the leader.

And the guest stars are worked in brilliantly. Seeing the
FF, Spider-Man, and Avengers appear has such resonance
because of JB's history with those titles. And I
especially appreciated seeing the cast from JB's run on
X-Men, even if it's a glimpse - Jahf, Sunfire, Alpha
Flight.

I loved reading this when it was released a page a day,
but reading this book was an absolute joy. Thank you,
JB!!
