Movies are not the market for this. If it succeeds, Sora is going to generate
so much content the world will never be the same.

I’m slightly skeptical, but if it quickly generates video of this quality based
on those simple prompts, there is really no predicting how this will go
sideways— just that it will. YouTube, Insta, etc— the home for unique/bizarre
individually crafted and launched content is basically everywhere you look.
If this makes it easy for any person to create arresting video, the entire
meaning of “arresting video” will change.

It is mind blowing and I think Mark is right about the floodgates opening on endless content. To be honest, I didn't even watch to the end because there was just too much -- and that's going to be one of the problems.

Still a little glitchy, at about 3:30 the cat ends up with 3 front legs.

I can think of a positive use for making old tv programs and early film look and sound better, at least if done right. Some say it could recreate scenes and shows no longer in existence based on what there is.

As for newer better CGI? There's a lot of good but also poor CGI around already, and making it better for the same old formula stories? Yawn. Nothing will beat the 1933 King Kong or Jason And The Argonauts... hand-made magic beats all the tech in every way that really matters. If it becomes so easy and anyone can make it there won't be the focus and passion for a great story with an interesting character.

Looking at current comics there is technically great printing, color, lettering, and art. I think most people know what is missing though, and it's not endless variant covers!

I not sure who was clamoring for AI, but I don't think it was Joe Average.

One consequence of AI video is that nothing will be believed anymore, and likely nothing fictitious will excite.  It may be the end of the movie age.

How much cultural change really comes from “clamoring”? Were people clamoring for cars? For movies? For comic books?

In so many cases a small group of people come up with something and—after some grumbling—the clamor kicks in.

Put me down as clamoring for anything intelligent! Jeeziz do I ever wish those saucer dudes would fire up the old evolvo-ray blasters these days!*

* - written while munching "Double Toasted Flavour" Cheez-Its. Wait... "flavour"? Are they double toasted or aren't they? Oh well, at least the u is there for sale in Canada... (also "carquelins cuits au four" and "faits avec du vrai fromage")
