Speaking of the Pinto, during my last years in Calgary, I drove a Bobcat. Basically a Pinto with a nose job. Everything behind the grill was a Pinto. As many of you probably know, Pintos were notorious for bursting into flame when struck from behind.* So one day I stopped at a light and the car behind tapped me on the rear bumper. I looked in the mirror and the driver had thrown his arms across his face! When I left Calgary I gave the Bobcat to my Dad. He drove it for several years before passing it on to a friend’s teenage daughter. Who promptly totaled it. ______ * As the tale is told, Ford elected not to fix this flaw as paying off potential lawsuits would actually be cheaper!!
