Gotta hand it to Republicans, their coordinated misinformation campaign has been thoroughly successful. Even much of the hated liberal media uncritically repeats such deceptive framing.
******* Not thoroughly successful...yet. Still, going into the general election much of the worrying will be how much misinformation will effect the outcome in November. LINK

Yep, lapping it all up yet again, giving the inch to "be fair", helping spread the mud and the narrative, that mile taken again, the lie repeated enough times to sink in and gain reality for some probably too busy to sort much out even when not in a time of overload.
But be comforted that some will say this is all standard balanced and equal reportage operating as it always has, except it isn't, at least not from a lot of "news" providers.

The GOP is apparently trying to come up with a plan to make it possible for Trump to pardon himself on state charges, if he's elected.
Let that sink in.

hear me out: what if we tricked him into pivoting to running for governor of NY instead so he could pardon himself?

I'm a little surprised that Trump hasn't said anything about currently having pardon power by virtual of being Rightful President.
The GOP doesn't have to do anything. If Trump is elected, he can just go ahead and declare himself pardoned of state charges, very serious Republicans legal scholars will very seriously agree that it's what the founders intended, and the media will obediently cover the issue as if it was an actual controversy. By the time it becomes a legal issue again after Trump leaves office, if he leaves office, as we have seen even spurious legal novelties can be litigated for years.

The GOP wouldn't get enough votes to change the law to grant Trump state pardon power. Because the Democrats would vote against it and anyone else who isn't MAGA would likely do the same.
But I wouldn't put it past Trump arrogantly trying to do it anyway, and that could backfire: He'd be admitting guilt by trying to pardon himself, so why would there even be a need for more trials? Just go straight to the sentencing phase, and good luck trying to appeal.

Hmmm.I'm beginning to see why there was a moratorium imposed on Trump threads for so long.

Republicans got together with Trump, including his erstwhile frenemy, Mitch McConnell.
QUOTE:
“We had a really positive meeting. He and I got a chance to talk a little bit, shook hands a few times,” McConnell told reporters after the meeting. “It was an entirely positive meeting,” he added. “I can’t think of anything out of it to tell you that was negative.” |

Maybe Trumf’s battery will run out before November. Then he can choose Elvis as his running mate.
