It stems from huge amounts of denial and cult of personality, which are difficult if not impossible to fight.  I remember having an online conversation with my late cousin in September 2020 (he was a Wisconsinite, a veteran, and a major Trump supporter).  I mentioned Trump's comments to General Kelly about POWs and soldiers injured or killed in action being "suckers" and he absolutely refused to believe Trump said that.  It was more difficult to argue back then since Kelly had yet to speak on the record about it, but I doubt even a face-to-face conversation with Kelly would have persuaded him.  I doubt even a videotape of Trump saying it would have persuaded him.

As a rule, MAGA does tend to not believe their lying eyes and ears, so I think you'd be correct.

The best thing for Dems is Trump and Vance in front of cameras. They will only make it worse for their campaign. He's NOT expanding his base.

There seems to be a deliberate strategy this week to put Harris in her place by having Trump take time off while Vance campaigns against her like she's still running for vp. The weak link is of course Vance, whose stalking exercise had the same energy as an incel podcaster demanding a debate with AOC.

Vance's little pr stunt, going to `confront' her at Air Force Two, which turned out to be empty, was pathetic.

He had to know it was empty, because if she had been there, all that would have happened would have been security tossing him and anyone with him out.

Smug little presumptous bastard, too, claiming he wanted to check out `his plane'.

Yesterday Vance was saying he wanted to debate Harris.  That was a bizarre and ill-considered strategy, because it raises obvious questions like "Why are you offering to stand in?  Is Trump afraid or unable to debate her himself?"  It doesn't do anything but make Trump look bad for him to say that.

The Trump campaign seems to have realized this, since today Trump announced he is backing down from his debate modification demands and will agree to the already-scheduled September 10 debate on ABC.

Harris and Walz's combined age is 120. They have 38 years experience in elected office between them, 15 in senior state or federal executive positions including state attorney general, governor and vice president.

Meanwhile, Trump and Vance's combined age is 118, and they share a combined 5 years and seven months experience in elected office between them, having each been elected a single time. Vance sits on three Senate committees and six subcommittees.

Back in 2008, Barack Obama and Sarah Palin were both criticized for inexperience, but Obama's 12 years as a legislator and and Palin's six years as a mayor and two as a governor made them old hands compared the the current Republican ticket.

Recent polling has independents leaning towards Harris.
