Mr. or Mrs. Snapdragon, has your name been changed to protect the innocent?

I'm sorry. I don't mean to make fun. Your post is very well written and obviously well intentioned, but I have problems taking you seriously with that name.

I am not "refering" to anyone -- except those who are
idiotic enough to think I would want people to lie on
my behalf.

The way I asked the question, it was supposed to be obvious what I thought - namely, that lying that way is not a good thing.

Thank you, JB.

Ok, good. I never assumed that you would want anything. So I am off the hook on that one, at least.

I think you and I may have very different opinions about what a "free country" is Joe.  Wikipedia states what it is, quite obviously.  For JB to correct it, then have no one else edit it after he is done, would be against the entire concept of it's creation.

I wasn't going to weigh in on this matter until I read the above. ALWAYS write to the top in serious matters. Mr. (Ms.?) Snapdragon may use a term of familiarity when discussing Mr. Wales in an effort to persuade JB in how futile it would be to go over the editor's heads, but I think I would take my chances.

I've had serious problems with Diamond Comics, UPS, Marvel, and others, and if the matter warrants it, I always write to the top dog. Nearly always, I get results.

After what seemed an initially positive response, I
am now getting something that is smelling a wee bit
like the ol' runaround from Mr. Wales.

We shall see.

I find the link posted by Jason Fulton most encouraging. It is time and past time that the InterNet be treated as a publication, since so many who post on it hide behind the rules which protect publications (such as the First Amendment), and those who post to it should be held to the same standards as those publishing, or published in newspapers, magazines, and other such forms.

Do you go to the top when you haven't done anything else?  If you buy a defective product, do you try returning it to the store first, or do you immediately write to the president of Best Buy?

It doesn't matter much to me if Jimbo is involved, I was trying to show people that the wiki collaborative process often works quite well when you actually try it.
