I like to see how it's done. First the fine point pen then the wider brush seems to be in the middle of the blackness while the blackness close to the borders are with a fine point. Then at the picture border there is some freehand wide brush.

Whoever is getting these books is getting one incredible collection. Wow that piece is incredible and if I ever have the money for a commission this may be the cover recreation I would request.
