I like this latest Wanda, but your comment sent me to the Commissions Gallery, to take another look at the Nefaria piece -- and, y'know, I think that may be the best renditions I have done of all of those characters -- the Count included.

I wouldn't necessarily go that far but it sure is my favorite of the commissions you've done.

There was a period early during Steve Engelhart's run of West Coast Avengers when he planned to have Daredevil join that team.  This was at a time when he was scheduled to write Daredevil as well.  Ann Nocenti wound up writing Daredevil, though, and Engelhart scrapped his plans to bring Daredevil out to the WCA.

I read about Englehart's plans in an AH Preview immediately after Born Again: DD returns to SF. After what Frank Miller did so powerfully in binding the character to Hell's Kitchen, I thought it was a joke.

IMP.

Frank thought Elektra was dead, too.

Not meant to be. Just not his usual grumpy-face.

Bravo!  I love the DD piece.  I had forgot all about his appearance in FF.  Great stuff.

One of the things I liked about the Hawkeye and Witch piece is that conjures in my mind the camraderie the members of "Cap's Kooky Quartet" had - even if it was more in retrospect.

Back in 1986 when Marvel was doing "Quicksilver as a villain" stories, the first West Coast Avengers Annual had a story where Quicksilver was the secret ringleader of the villains trying to kill the Avengers.  Earlier, the assembled Avengers gad been discussing who might be behind it, and Hawkeye vouched for Quicksilver simply on the basis of the trouble all 4 of the quartet faced together.  I always thought that touching and felt that out of any Avengers period, the Kooky Quartet would stand to gain the most from new stories told from a more modern perspective.

Great job.

The Man Without Fear is beautifully lit and balanced.  Powerful, graceful, swashbuckling all at once.  I just about brace for the impact of that billy club.  I do sort of miss the chest emblem, though...

If I had $4000 for a comission(which I currently don't) I'd want something truly weird...like the Fantastic Four clashing with the Haunted Tank.

Or maybe Dracula in a Bloody Mary drinking contest with Howard the Duck (for the fate of the world) with the Grandmaster and the inbetweener in the background.

Or Blackbolt buying a pretzel or a hotdog from a Manhatten vendor.

Beautiful work, JB! And from one purist to another, thanks for giving DD
his short boots with the seams. It's the little things that show the artist's
devotion to his craft. More power to you!
