I made mention of the fact that the Wanda JB drew in the "Nefaria sketch thread" was the best I'd ever seen him do. I was wrong.

Michael Kane:  If anyone knows . what Hero Groups has DD officially been a member of?

Daredevil was the leader of the Marvel Knights (although I don't believe they ever officially called themselves that), in the MARVEL KNIGHTS title published under...um...the Marvel Knights imprint.  He assembled the group for the specific purpose of bringing The Punisher to justice.  Black Widow, Dagger, Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, and (I think) Luke Cage were members of the group.  Dr. Strange passed through, but I'm not sure if he was ever an actual member.

The title only lasted about a year and a half, as I recall.

JB, how was it like to draw Daredevil for this commission? This is a character you didn't drew very often. Do you know why?

Daredevil is not a character who just "jumps" out of my pencil. The pose is usually easy enough, but not having drawn DD a gazillion times like so many other characters, I have little moments of "How do the horns work?" or "What kind of belt does he wear?" And, of course, being a "purist" I always try to draw the "short" boots with the seams down the front.

JB, this question and answer leads me to ask further something I'd been wondering lately: how much preparation in terms of sample sketches do you make when you are going to begin working on a series whose characters you've never regularly drawn before?

I usually fill up a few sketchbook pages looking for "my" version of the character. Some of my doodles for NAMOR were included in the recent "Modern Masters" volume that focused on me.

Thank you for this answer JB. I love the piece.

This is one hell of a Daredevil (I know, I know that was an easy one)

Two knock-out pieces JB. I love seeing you draw characters we don't often see you doing. Some one needs to scrape up some cash and ask for a Ghost Rider.

I like this latest Wanda, but your comment sent me to the Commissions Gallery, to take another look at the Nefaria piece -- and, y'know, I think that may be the best renditions I have done of all of those characters -- the Count included.

Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead. . .
