This lovely Black Widow instantly became one of my favorites among JB's single character commissions posted to date.

Really nice job!

Bosch, in this forum it's considered very impolite to make a post just to criticise a commission in a thread opened to exhibit an image that somebody has paid good money for.

Put yourself in the place of the buyer and think how you would feel?

Andrew, you are too nice. My response would have been much meaner like, so could your mothers. Good thing you responded before me.

i respect the way you paul will always tell the truth on these things,. this is why i must always enjoy reading this board about the great artist of john byrne. maybe if matt reed gets another job paul would be a good man to replace him? i would vote for that! but matt is great too and he should never leave.

Yeah I know but do we really want another commission thread to get ugly?

Besides why give anyone the excuse to say "I joined Byrne's board and the moment I said anything critical about his art, everybody insulted me and I got banned".

Paul, if Bosch is here to cause trouble it will soon become apparent and you will still get your chance. :-)

If you put it that way, I suppose it is impolite, but my words shouldn't necessarily have any bearing on the buyer's feelings of the commission, that is unless I hit on something that he himself thought of. I simply felt an itch that had to be scratched and didn't want to keep it to myself.

Gene, congrats on the commission. It really is a work of beauty. Do you have another lined out yet?

Hey, look!  It's the stupid premise (again) that one can not have an opinion about art unless one is capable of producing art!

Nicely done, Joe.

That's not my premise at all. Mr. Fawstin might have a valid opinion and would like to see him demonstrate it (he does seem to be a capable artist.)
