Damn it, Wayne! You own Art Adams commissions as well?! Bad enough with
the Byrne stuff!

Wayne,
You seriously need to create an updated online gallery of your stuff. You just casually mentioned that you "also own the Kirby cover" to an issue of Fantastic Four! This is on the heels of you suggesting that "most of the good stuff" is on display in this forum. Granted, there is lots of amazing stuff around here that is yours but from what I hear there is a lot more.

Man, I missed that he owned that Kirby cover-- my favorite comicbook cover
of all time!
Wayne, you're living the dream.

If, say, Joe Rubinstein or Klaus Jansen did a copy of the page, that to me would not be at all the same thing === I suppose it has to do with novelty value. In the Modern Masters: Art Adams, he did a couple recreations of old school Fantastic Four, Batman, Red Sonja, etc. covers and they all looked great. +++ Line for line recreations, or in his own style? ^^^^^ In his own style. *** Thanks, Wayne. So this is yet another example of a poster "disputing" something I have said by offering as "evidence" something completely different from what I am talking about. sigh

I kind of like the thought of seeing what another artist would do with a particular reimagining... AA's tended to be a bit more.... faithful to the originals than JB's are... more like JB's reimagining of She Hulk #1, but I think its fun to see a different take. I don't think I'd want to see JB or AA or anyone slavishly copy someone else's work line for line, but to reinterpret it... that's cool!

I agree. The only thing that says is either "I can trace!" or "See how easy I can
do this other artist's stuff!".

No JB, it's an example of a poster misunderstanding what you said. I thought
you meant a general recreation, not a "line for line" recreation. Not everyone
is "trying to beat you" in a debate. Sorry for the confusion.

"JB: On commission pieces, I would prefer to avoid paste-up lettering for the same reason I avoid white-out, razor scratching and zip-a-tone. Anything that's not a physical part of the board I consider a detriment to the piece. I am not, after all, selling these commissions as collages"
My suggestion regarding paste up lettering was in reference to the internal Uncanny X-Men page recreation and if JB decided to recreate these pages as commissions.

Wowowwowow!
That one is a dream come true to many fans who worship those Uncanny X-Men issues. I am really amazed to learn that JB traces only in pencils and then has to recreate the inking by hand, that's quite a lot of hard work to make it so faithful to the original.
This is definitely the best thing next to the original page. People should fight over it on eBay.
