With no background or other characters as reference points, you still manage to get his height, or lack thereof across. That's impressive.
That's how Wolverine is supposed to look.

The customer asked for a head-on, "iconic" shot, but not an action shot.
With no backgrounds or foreshortening, I knew I'd have to work doubly hard
to make the pipsqueak look the right height!

JB,
This is going to sound like a very stupid, rookie question, but here goes. Do you ever run out of ideas for "poses"? Are the poses dictated by the customer? From the non-artists eye, I would think that if it's just a one character commission, there's only so much you could do for poses.
Stupid question? Sure, but we're all friends here, right?

Just in time for Canada Day!
Sweet.
The straight-on shot is my preference.
Reminds me of the Official Handbook of the MU entries, but SO
much better.
Perfect Wolverine.

Not at all, Glenn. In fact, especially when the figure is to be "iconic" and
not an action shot, there can tend to be a limited number of poses.
Probably still numbering in the hundreds, mind you, and certainly
benefitting from the fact that, say, Wolverine and Wonder Woman
standing in the same pose are not going to look that same!!

Very nice. A mean, short ball of muscle. The drawing successfuly creates the illusion of mass, of density.
