geezus this sounds like a really bad joke. Is this the new Marvel? Create a character, pile on different powers to make sure he is palatable to every possible crossection and make him bi-sexual to relevant with the times?

You know it's been 3 years since I bought a new comic, having a 6 yr old and twins that are turning 2 will do that, but i've always been longing to get back into it. Reading this thread has just about killed that desire. Daken sounds like the most retarded character this side of the Hypno-Hustler.

Good question.
And they can't seriously be serious with that cover, can they? What's the story behind that?

Wow. Another reason to keep limiting myself to trades of
classic and recommended material.

Well, I also now have no Incredible Hulk comic. There's Hulk, which will now be solely about the Red Hulk. There's Son of Hulk, which is Skaar's title. And there's Incredible Hulk, which is Skaar on the road with Bruce Banner. So, yeah, no comics about...you know...the actual Hulk, and nothing to buy if, like me, you don't like this Skaar character.

Every now and then I get the itch to try to take on Marvel books again, but then I see crap like this and I turn right around again.
I would like to buy a Marvel comic without:
Bendis Millar association with titles written by the above two writers Wolverine clones (literally!) needing to buy another title to understand what's going on or enjoy in general Norman Osborn lateness padded (they call it 'decompressed') stories
What's left??

Eh, I think Daken has the potential to be a good, fun, and interesting character and have enjoyed all of his appearances so far.
The character, though, since some of you either expressed not knowing or expressed interest, is supposedly in his 50s (and, like Logan, only looks younger) and was born around the second world war.
To the first poster, who was talking about the shadowy mover in the Origins book, Romulus, it does not appear to be Wolverine's brother from Origin, although I'd be surprised if it didn't turn out that way. Jeph Loeb wrote a much reviled story in which it says that there is a clan of sub-human dog people who always have a dark champion (Wolverine) and a blonde champion (Sabretooth) who are destined to fight. Why the dog champion avatar of blondeness would be a cat, though, I have no idea. Romulus, I thought, was implied to be a millennia-old patriarch of that tribe.
Wolverine's brother from Origin, Dog, has not yet appeared and the mini-series alluded to a third brother who was hinted at more strongly in the original ending (which was supposed to be picked up by Jenkins in a sequel). This third brother appeared in Wolverine: The End, but that title is not canon.

If Daken has his daddy's super-healing, he couldn't have tattoos, can he?
*****
Daniel Way addresses the tattoo issue in the above-linked interview.
“Tattoos aren't scar tissue. There's scar tissue underneath but when you traumatize the skin and saturate it with ink, the skin heals and the tattoo remains. Everybody gets tattoos and everybody heals from the tattoo. The tattoo ink is left behind and it's not poison so his healing factor doesn't get rid of it.”

How can Wolverine or Darken bend their wrists. I don't understand how their claws can retract into their forearm.
