JB,
Thank you for giving me that "12 year-old feeling" when I clicked on this
post. Really, really wonderful.

The level of detail blows me away on this piece.  What has been left to say that hasn't been?  What an incredible piece of art!  And, like millions of others, I would love to see this story.

I'm curious now -- those of you who make desktops out of these pieces, do you "grey" them down? Seems like the black and white would be kinda hard on the eyes, filling the monitor screen.

Spectacular simply doesn't cover this one.  And like so many have already said... want... to... read... full... story...

Btw, vis-a-vis Doom besting Superman, apart from the magic option, I'm sure a man like Doom would be sure to have some kryptonite on hand before going into battle with someone like Superman.

And as for the rest and all... how do we know that Doom didn't start out by more or less ambushing a few of the JLA:ers?

When I desktop them, I leave them as is.  I hadn't thought about "greying" them down.  I don't know much about Photoshop, so it hadn't crossed my mind.  The image doesn't bother my eyes though, in fact, I get inspired by each successive image.  Hard to believe that with each new commission it just keeps getting better and better!

Here's a thought! What if this is a "sequel" to THIS? After all, we KNOW Doom won that one -- at least temporarily!

I will always continue my quest to collect cool back issues to flesh out my collection, but there is no comic book that would top my "grail dream" of getting one of these awesome John Byrne commissions.

I pretty much know exactly what I would ask JB to do, but until I get my divorce, help push all three of my kids through college (they are 20, 18 & 16 years old) and probably bury my parents to claim any inheritence bucks, I will have to wait with fingers crossed that JB hasn't retired or passed.

Disposable income, you say?  Never heard of any laying around my hacienda.

So, to all of you folks who've "earned" them ... here's to you. (Penis envying you guys is an ongoing concern of mine.)

By the way, JB. this JLA vs. Dr. Doom is one of the best I've seen out of you lately, and that IS saying something considering the high quality of the ones that you regularly do. Salute!

WOW!

That's a great picture.  The art is great.  The layout is great.  The idea is great.  I agree with the other posters who indicated that this should be a book.  It should be a book written and drawn by John Byrne.

How could Marvel and DC not think this is a great idea?  Do it outside of continuity.  It would still be great great great.

Do it outside of continuity.

••

Remember when the cross-company crossovers were automatically "outside continuity"? Before the ARFanboys started ruling the roost.

Simpler times. Happier times.
