Here's my introduction to this character:

••

One of the things I really, really, really disliked about the SECRET WARS figures was how they cheaped out. DC's SUPER POWERS were so very much better. Notice that Kang, like Doctor Doom, has Iron Man's arms. And that his boots are only painted on, not embossed, so those are almost certainly somebody else's legs, too.

Rama-Tut revealed that *he* uncovered the time machine plans in the belongings of an ancestor. Clearly at that time it was intended that that ancestor was Doom.

••

Intended is too strong a word. The suggestion is made in a single panel which may or may not have been what Kirby intended. And, even as a kid, I did not think that particular "reveal" made any sense. If Doom was Rama Tut, ONE of them should know!

was Kang even in Secret Wars? I honestly don't remember.

I do remember as a kid, reading somewhere (FF, maybe) a perhaps one page explanation of how Doom/Kang/Rama Tut MIGHT have been one person. I can remember as a kid thinking, "That's awesome! What a mystery!" and leaving it at that. One of those "better leave it unsolved" moments, like Magneto's paternity issue. Those were the kinds of things I loved about Marvel back then.

*sigh*

As I recall, Kang shoots down Doom with an enormous alien gun (was that in #1?), thinking to himself how it's a risk as Doom may be one of his ancestors. I don't remember him doing anything else at any point in the rest of the series.

Doom had Ultron disintegrate him.
