Even with all the stuff that Magneto is throwing around, the blacks in the costume are mesmerizing. Very cool commission, thanks for sharing.

Over the years, I've grown to appreciate Stan & Jack's decision to put the "X" on their belt buckles, instead of the standard (for the period) chest emblems.  Perhaps to make them stand out a little more from the Fantastic Four...?

All in all, another great commission!  Nice, solid blacks, too!

I don't know what else to say but; it's perfect! The figures all look amazing. the background is cool enough until you really look and see where they are. Then it's really cool! The debris breaking the boarder really adds to the already nice sense of depth.

Great piece JB!

OOOOH! That' s really the jewel in the crown. This is THE comission.

Congratulations to the owner, from the bottom of my comic-book-lover soul.

Now, these are the X-Men. They are also my favorite team. Glad to see so many people still appreciate them.

Great looking commission.

Thanks for sharing as usual.

This is a beautiful piece, I can't wait to see it larger.

Questions for JB? Did you have any flashblacks to the Black and Yellow days planned in XMTHY? I love seeing your depiction of the original costumes. I remember the Amazing Adventures covers and the flashbacks in Uncanny 138.
JB have you drawn the original costumes very many times?

The blacks you used on the costumes just looks great!

You are the master at adjusting the "camera" angle on cover reimaginings!

Spectacular all around!  I think this will be one of the most memorable pieces of art for 2010!

No flashbacks needed! During the time their book was in reprint limbo, the team made several guest appearances in other books. And some of those were in the school uniforms. So my task was to explain WHY!

JB,

You mentioned your copy of X-Men 1.  I've seen many pictures of your original art, statues and hardcover "library", but, do you have a comic book collection?  Do you keep copies of everything you've worked on?

Back on topic - what a fantastic commission!

The Beast in his human form has always been my favorite look for him. I can not stand the fur. In either color.

I love these costumes on them. The simple design works best for me.
