Excellent!  Love it.  This was a good issue as well so I am glad it saw some love for this commission!

Wonderful work, JB!  Congrats to the commissioner!

Looking for the original cover I also stumbled on this cover rough by Cockrum! Interesting!

••

Hm! Wonder if I ever saw that? No reason I would have, since I didn't pencil the original cover (grrrrr), but. . . hm!

I was half-expecting to see Rodan or Ghidorah, but was pleasantly surprised to see a re-imagining!

It doesn't get much better than being able to see new art from JB. Love it.

Oct. schedule for a Feb. coverdate! Anyone miss those days?

••

On sale in October/November means I would have been pencilling this issue no later than July of 1977. THOSE are the days / miss!

I think I like the layout of Cockrum's rough more than what he ended up going with on the finished cover.

I was outside moving and clearing out snow from the last round of storms and, when I came inside I found this posted! There is no better way to warm myself up then to come inside and see MY commission!

This is one of the very first comics that I bought with my own money when I was a kid, and, started me down a road that I'm still on to this day.

Thank you very much JB, it's perfect! Ya brought me back to a great time with this one.

And you added Wolverine and Mariko!!

Cool pic, JB.  That's actually one of my favorite issues from your run back then.

The thing that I miss the most from those days, is that the cover was used to tell an aspect of the story, and not just used as a generic pin-up.

Congrats, William!

It's nice seeing Mariko and Sunfire again, and having a moment to forget what happened to both.

I'll also have to admit to thinking this was going to be a Toho-based commission (or at least involving Fing Fang Foom), but the X-Men in Japan works too!

Speaking of which, any word about of working on IDW's Godzilla book, JB?

That's an amazing illustration, but...

I'm having trouble imagining how Godzilla's participation would make the scene any less awesome.
