I'm ever and always on the alert for when people spot recurrent "schticks" in my work. These call of consideration, and sometimes elimination. (I take my cue from something I read about Sir Alec Guiness. When people noticed some bit of business he did, he would stop doing it.)That said, tho, I just spent a few minutes flipping thru the ESSENTIAL volume containing my earliest X-MEN work, and it seems to me the "splayed fingers" are as much in evidence there as in recent works. Hardly a page goes by without a few hands in that position. So I think this is less a change in my work than it is something you have recently noticed -- kind of like when I first grew a beard, and suddenly it seemed like everybody had beards! In other words, this has been around a long time, and since it is a pretty natural position for hands to fall into, it is gonna stay!
