Sad news. I'm only familiar with his Blueberry and Silver Surfer work, but he was a truly incredible talent.

This ranks right up there with the loss of John Buscema and
Al Williamson. Very sad news indeed!
RIP

GAAAH! 2 weekends in a row of this...  Moebius was just amazing. One of my favorite jobs of his was doing concept work for the movie Tron.
He and Syd Mead were the real stars of the movie...

I know that might be silly of me to say, compared to all of his brilliant comics and illustration work, but Tron really grabbed me as a kid. Visually, it was wonderful.

Creators should not go before their creations. I am à big fan of Blueberry and JM Charlier is already gone...We will never know what they had in mind for this almost real character. RIP and read it or you miss an unbelie able run.

••

That would leave us with some very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY old artists shambling about!

My wife just watched Fifth Element last night. All through the movie I was telling her about Moebius. The man was a seriously amazing artist.

One of my very favorite pieces of original art, a series of posters Moebius did for Marvel in 1990.  Giraud makes The Thing look both menacing and melancholy in the same picture.  Stunning.

I miss the man already and I never got the chance to meet him in person.

He was one of the greatest of all time. His works will be remembered for as long as comics exist.

I had the privilege of translating his last Blueberry run (Mister Blueberry) for the brazilian ed. It was a great experience!

Rest in peace, maître Giraud.

The only other piece of Moebius art I own:

I had been humming and hawing over this sketch for months.  I always wanted an AIRTIGHT GARAGE related piece.  After hearing the bad news this morning I went ahead took the plunge.  Life's too short and precious to waste with indecisions like this.
