Good luck on the new family member, JB.  After a year and a half, my two cats still hate my wife's dog.

A new addition to the family!  He's a real cutie.  I hope he an Gwynn become fast friends.

I really like that you go to rescue shelters, JB - my heart goes out to our furry friends who end up there.

Poe looks just like the stray I took in almost eleven years ago.

Named him Loki.

Nice find, JB.

Breaks my heart every time, tho. Of the cats available yesterday, several were of advanced years. Just as when I adopted Gwynn, and there was another dog there was was 17!

Takes a special kind of person to bring home that kind of "instant" heart ache.

Congrats, JB! Cats are fascinating animals. I can't have one, due to allergies, but I always enjoy watching them.

Another `Good Byrne` story! I`m sure given a bit of time that Gwynn and Poe will get used to each other. My dog Sam actually gets on better with cats than other dogs,we have half the street`s cats following us home for treats! It does annoy and upset me the amount of older pets in rescue centres, obviously some may have belonged to elderly owners who have died, but i know a lot are abandoned by younger owners because they would rather not pay the vet bills required by some elderly pets,i just cannot comprehend how you can have a pet in your family for 12 years plus and then just dump them.

Congrats on the new addition, Chief.

Those roombas are going to start looking for a raise, though.

Our 2 current cats, Buttercup and Wesley, were rescues that we brought home as kittens about 4 years ago...Wes is definately "my" cat, though - he starts to yell at me at night if I don't sit in my spot on the couch so he can get his cuddles and scratches. Of course, they both still have their claws, so that's not so much fun in the summer.

Fortunately, we got them used to having their paws handled when they were kittens, so we're able to clip their claws ourselves on a fairly regular basis.
