They said, "That's not yours. Stop it "
OK, I kid.

Come on, I'm generally interested. ;)
There's no point in me doing a topic unless I can learn and gain some insight so genuinely interested in what any bands have said.

I remember many moons ago the Beatles (after the break up) sued Beatlemania.Something about ,although they had the rights to play their songs, Beatlemania did not have rights to resemble and use the name. Or some such thing.

"More often than not they exists where the bands in question just cannot be seen anymore : eg Bowie"
**
Side note, I don't think this will ever stop being a punch in the gut.

As Joe hasn't provided any links, I am going to head to Google and find out about these bands' complaints. Just wondering how to phrase it. Perhaps the words "Metallica", "tribute bands" and "complaints" might help.

Shamelessly telling me they won't see "Movie A" they'll just go home and watch it free -- And then they say "They're not losing my money because I wouldn't pay to watch it."
Then don't watch it. "But I know I'm not gonna like it; why would I pay to see something I'm not going to like?" So you can see it. I tell people I had no desire to see The Force Awakens but as a purveyor of pop culture, that's not entirely true. I just didn't want to feed my money into it. So I haven't seen it. That's how the game is played, or not played.

As far as Metallica goes, there was a story about them going after a cover band, but Metallica chalked it up to an overzealous lawyer and dropped it.

The trouble is,it`s human nature that if something is available for `free` people will take, wether they want/need it or not.I had a work colleague who was an avid downloader of music,he freely admitted downloading the entire works of different groups/artists even though he had neither the time or inclination to listen,it was `just nice to have`Similarly,we have a growing `Food bank` culture over here, with the media/commentators claiming they are a sign of poverty, despite us having a very generous welfare system.Upon seeing the claimants of this free food, which looking at the footage consists of mainly unhealthy stuff like biscuits and sugary cereals, they all seem to be obese, tattooed, pierced and smoking, which makes you wonder how they can afford such things if they are so poverty stricken they can`t afford to buy food? Or is it a case of `well it`s free food,i`ll fill my boots?

Thanks for the link, Trevor. Also, tribute bands are not breaking any laws that I know of, certainly not any UK laws I know of. File-sharing is illegal (in a technical sense, I doubt courts could prosecute every file-sharer unless judges worked double-shifts!).
I don't understand the, "What if I don't like it?" You pay your money, you take your chances.
I did not enjoy THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999). I didn't understand how it got such great reviews. I thought it was awful. How much did I pay? I'd say the average price of a cinema ticket here is around six quid.
I thought the movie was shit, if I'm honest. But you take a chance, don't you? Same with a book. Or an album.
Same with anything, really. You go on vacation, the location may be shit. The entertainment may be shit. But if we all sought everything for free, or sought a refund for everything we'd ever purchased, no-one would earn any money.

Bill, I don't know that much about foodbanks. I don't want to judge, especially as the right-wing media here often demonize such things.
But I trust you opinion, my friend.
I will say this: my mum didn't have much money when I was a kid (my abusive father would often steal it and go and get drunk). She didn't earn that much money in a job as she could only work during school hours. All I know is, and she said this again in later life, we ATE well.
I got a load of shopping recently for £12 from budget supermarket Aldi. Crisps, chocolate, biscuits, yoghurts, meat, toilet rolls, toothpaste, orange juice, etc. For £12.95. If you make the effort, you can eat well on a budget.

Robbie,i don`t take note of the right wing press any more than i do the left wing,i try to keep an open mind,i just know what i have seen of food banks.Like you we had hard times when i was growing up,dad made redundant during the late 70`s when jobs were hard to come by,he re-trained as a HGV driver, but nobody would take him on without experience,he even offered to work a month for no wages to prove himself,to no avail.Because my mom had a small job,the state offered the paltry sum of 30p a week! We survived, and like you we ate well, mom dad and 3 kids,we never felt we went without.Like you we shop at Aldi and Lidl,we just shopped at Lidl using a £5 off £40 spend voucher out of a newspaper from the staff lounge at work.A fair bit of the money we spent was on baking ingredients for cakes my wife is baking for the Macmillan Coffee morning both our workplaces are holding tomorrow,so we are doing our bit,my wife has even organised a `Calendar Girls` calendar to raise more funds. My point about food banks is,it never seems to be the cheap, healthy food we survived on,on a limited budget as kids,it`s all seems to be unhealthy junk, maybe we need cookery classes that teach people how to actually cook rather than throw junk in the microwave?
