Don’t want to give the wrong impression, here. There are no health issues connected to th “doldrums”.

As much as I love JB's work for the Big Two, I now enjoy revisiting his Dark Horse and IDW (and Fan Fic) work more.

JB, here's hoping your ennui "lifts," if for nobody's sake
but your own, so you can go back to enjoying the process.
Take care.

JB has an amazing body of work, but ELSEWHEN is next level good. A true passion project. They fact that it resurrected characters that had become so distorted over time as to be unrecognizable was nothing short of miraculous. I will always cherish it. My one goal now it to get it in a nice hardcopy for preservation sake.

I like the fact that you're not forcing yourself to crank these out. It all fits with how organic these stories and art have evolved.
Anything could potentially break you out of it - maybe a really cool ELSEWHEN dream where you wake up and go 'Ooh, now that's a nifty idea!'

I’m not lacking ideas. In fact, before the doldrums set in i drew several pages from future issues to aim at.

It’s not that I can’t work. Just don’t wanna.

Surly the world needs to see Doom take apart the X-men like cheap clockwork.

...and we can't leave Wolverine stuck in his old blue and yellow.

Beside, Pablo still needs his coming out party.

These stories yearn to be set free.

(And, oh, to see Jean just one more time...the real Jean Grey! Magic.)

I get the doldrums - been driving me nuts as I have a stack of work I enjoy doing normally that I just can't focus on.  So very annoying.

I'm glad that is all it is - seeing George Perez pass away, right after Neal Adams did makes me worry all my favorite creators will be disappearing forever soon.  I guess that is inevitable (after all no, one gets out alive, as they say), but I want to see people I enjoyed the work from when I was a kid to last as long as possible, and to live as happy a life as possible.  Heck, same with the creators whose work I didn't enjoy for that matter.

I want to say something, but can't think of anything appropriate except more words of deep gratitude and appreciation for everything you've done on this incredible series. Thank you! Elsewhen is the most magical, spectacular mind-blowing gift of a comic book series that I have ever been lucky enough to read.

It's been the answer to a long-held silent wish, executed with mastery and panache according to the brilliant credo: "Never give fans what they think they want."

Bravo!

I'm appreciative of all the great stories and artwork shown here as well. One of my (many) favorite story arcs is 'Father and Son' with Willy Evans. I loved the dynamic of the X-Men fighting for their lives as Willy creates havok while sleeping. And the art was killer! (Although the Doom plot is fighting to overtake that as a favorite)

That's the beauty of this format.  You can do what you or not do what you want.
