We're talking about a guy who lost a defamation lawsuit and responded to that with even more defamatory comments about the plaintiff. He is never going to take a plea deal because that would be admitting guilt.

So… armed riots tomorrow, or more storms in teacups?

Not a bang, a whimper.

If they want to riot, and took a hint of the consequences from what happened last time, they should disguise themselves as clowns, which would be a nice allusion to their leader.

If it ever comes down to him serving any actual jail time, he'll plea/settle for whatever it takes not to suffer that discomfort, rather than stick to whatever supposed principles he claims to have.

A key problem with the way this Nation is structured is the number of people who have guns. As we see every week, multiple times a week, one individual with a gun can do a disproportionate amount of damage.

The irony here is the number of Trumf supporters brandishing their NRA memberships as thinly veiled threats. Ironic, because that is precisely NOT what the NRA was conceived to represent.

"I honestly do not see the DoJ settling this case or even offering a plea deal.  If it gets into court, the DoJ had 99.6% conviction percentage."

Fewer than 5% of federal criminal cases go to trial.  When prosecutors offer plea deals to defendants, their ability to prove the case is only one of several considerations.   Trials are expensive.  They also take a lot of time, and not just the time that is spent in court.  So deals are offered to avoid the expense of conducting trials, and to reduce the backlog of cases in the court system.

If Trump doesn't make a deal, its unlikely that will be because he wasn't offered one.

As someone who is not american, deals in matter of justice are something very shocking to me: it seems it is better to say you are guilty, even if you're innocent, because you risk less (particularly if you are poor) if you let them win, this way prosecutors can show the face of a winner to their costumers, i mean to their electors.

I am of the opinion that all of this will boil down to who wins the 2024 election.  If Trump wins, and I think he has an excellent chance, then it will be hell to pay for his enemies.  If he loses?  I am not so sure what would happen.

****
To do that, he’d have to admit he is guilty of something and he’ll never make
such an admission

The details of the deal can be sealed and he can spin it however he wants and his people will eat it up.

As awful as he is, he represents a large part of the american people.
There's no good solution.
It is not just the question of what he deserves.
What he did, he did in their name, even if you can think his own interest wasn't absent from his mind, neither his sens of privilege.
And if you let him go, what exemple does it set?
A bi-partisan court to judge him then: but could he even be condamned under thoses conditions?
An apolitical one by professional judges: does this really even exist? and who would believe it does?
He played his card well (i'm not saying cleverly)
Trump is the product of decenies of the GOP playing with fire, until they finnally got burnt.
Sadly, there're already collateral damages!

In the end it will be a matter of what is the opinion of a very large majority of the American people. If trial there is, the prosecutors have interest to be pretty convincing, and not just to those who are already against Trump.
