Why do so many online “reviews” still insist on describing ELSEWHEN as having started as a project for Marvel?

It’s not as if the whole process isn’t right here for anyone to see.

What are they mostly saying... it was a Marvel project that failed because of Bad Byrne...?

There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of explaining how it started at Marvel and ended up here. Just a flat statement of that being the case.

It’s kinda depressing. It seems to show that even the most apparently level headed fans out there simply cannot accept the idea that anyone wouldn’t WANT to work for Marvel.

This may bespeak of my own ignorance, but I wonder how many fans can't not associate even today merely the word "Marvel" with the Stan & Jack Era. Who wouldn't want to work there... then!?

**********

I think that's the power of nostalgia at work. The Marvel of my youth isn't a large company that doesn't always have its employees best interests at heart- it's a magical place where my favorite literary characters came from, as well as my greatest artistic influences!

A few years back, in discussing this very issue with someone online, I asked the question, 'Would YOU want to keep going back to a company you feel treated you unfairly?'

Even over the interwebs, I could hear the crickets...

Fanatics believe what they want to. "Fans" sounds harmless, but it masks something a little more insidious.

Fanatics do not sound like a group of people who worry about due care and diligence, and it would seem the journalism that supports their community is equally blasé when it comes to facts.

I'm glad I was here to see this series grow so naturally. If it had gone Marvel, we would of all lost this connection with the creator and the series.

It's just lazy reporting without fact checking.  You put nonsense out there on the internet and expect someone to catch your mistakes.

Auto-correct for content.

It been said many times, I know, but I keep going back and reading the Elsewhen issues and it still blows my mind that:

(a) they exist at all, let along in such abundance
(b) they have the best, unadulterated JB art I've ever seen
(c) the stories and characters are so restored.

Simply beautiful.  I read recently that the original meaning of "radical" is about returning to the essence or "root" of something.

Elsewhen is radical.
