It really upsets me when people say all of JB's faces look the same (and some people are still saying it). When I see that face, that's Superman.

I'll bet if JB were to draw just the faces of a bunch of different well-known characters, most if not all of us would be able to recognize each and every character.

And that's not just talent, but lots and lots of practice. And that's what I admire: that someone is still willing to do the work.

Great job! And thanks!

Love his expression...there is something almost mischievous about it (in a good way of course).

I was going to say the same thing like Supes is enjoying using his powers.

It's like I've often said -- pretty much all the critcisms which have been leveled against my work have been true at one time or another -- tho not all at the same time, and in most cases, not for a long time. In the early days of my career, I DID have difficulty creating distinctively different faces, at least for the "heroic" figures. But all my supporting cast members had varied and recognizable faces. After some hard work, this became true of the heroes, too.

Unfortunately, for many "fans", once an idea is lodged in their single functioning brain cell almost nothing can dislodge it. They speak in buzzwords and mantras, afraid to express an independent thought.

I agree, he seems to really enjoy being Superman.  Most heroes should be this way, with dark or upset heroes being the exception rather than the all too common norm.

Regardless, great work JB!

Awesome piece JB. I agree that you definitely draw your heroic faces with more distinction. I've especially noticed this in how you handle noses and brows.

I used to think that in the 80's about JB, now I would say he still draws them with a recognizeable style but definately distinctive. However it's true of many artists. Jim Lee is still awful at reusing the same face (and body) especially for female characters.
