I particularly like what you've done with Sandman and overall it's a fun piece, that retains a lot of the charm and feel of the original whilst also clearly being a John Byrne piece. Noticeably, Doc Ock is given more to do in this new one, which I think is an improvement. Electro is brilliant in the original and in the re-imagining.

As I am sure you can all imagine, I'm not usually too thrilled if a customer asks for a change in a finished commission piece (and, happily this is a very rare occurrence), but this is one time when I am delighted to comply.Turns out the customer WANTS those heavy blacks on Spider-Man's costume, even tho they are not really true to the specific time period. So, since this is the way I "see" Spider-Man in my mind's eye, this is how I much prefer drawing him! Certainly makes him "pop", doesn't it?

It does make him pop more - it somehow gets even better! These reimaginings are some of my favorites. I hope we see more of them.

The negative space above Spider-Man's head really helps to give a streamlined look to his body - he not only 'pops' because of the blacks, but the built-up potential energy is making him spring away in my brain.
I love the way this looks, JB - it's damn good fun!
